A unique immersive experience combining sound, image and the overflowing human warmth of the Genevan conductor Philippe Béran, conducting the Lemanic Modern Ensemble, to bring Charlie to life like never before! This journey through time will sweep us back to the movie theatres at the turn of the 20th century, where silent films accompanied by live musicians were the norm. On the bill, three Chaplin short films created during his collaboration with the Mutual Film Corporation between 1916 and 1917: The Cure, The Vagabond and Behind The Screen. These hilarious gems, rarely performed with live musical accompaniment, already feature all the ingredients of his masterpieces over the following decades (The Kid, The Gold Rush, City Lights, Modern Times). The 17 musicians from the Lemanic Modern Ensemble will perform the scores, written by the great American film composer, Carl Davis, in the 1970s and which still feel just as fresh today. A globally renowned specialist in the accompaniment of silent movies, Davis collaborated directly with Charlie Chaplin, who was a composer and music lover himself.
