After Hervé Niquet and Le Concert Spirituel, our exploration continues with a second exceptional date with a real giant of early music: Ton Koopman. Harpsichordist, organist and conductor, he is a key exponent and pioneer in the interpretation of Baroque music and one of the most eminent specialists when it comes to Johann Sebastian Bach. He has spent over fifty years exploring this repertoire. Founder of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and its choir, he has developed a signature sound, based on instruments from the period, while respecting the soundscapes and techniques that were popular at the time. Regular guests at the world’s greatest opera houses and international festivals, the orchestra and choir are now considered benchmarks for the Baroque repertoire. At Noda BCVS, he will present Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, a luminous jewel of invention. Whether you are a true believer or merely a music lover, you will find it hard to resist the power of this sonic fresco. “Exult, rejoice”: the first words of the Christmas Oratorio are an invitation to celebrate and summon us all, without delay, to gather together for this concert.
