Come and celebrate the festive season at Noda BCVS at an evening unlike any other: an “augmented version” concert that showcases Valaisian artists, followed by a festive fun gathering open to all comers! For its Christmas party, Noda BCVS will whisk you away on a great musical journey to the Americas with the Sinfonia Valais-Wallis orchestra, conducted by Laurent Zufferey. Gershwin and Bernstein: two geniuses of American music, two figures diametrically opposed. Bernstein, flamboyant and charismatic; Gershwin, discreet, yes, but revolutionary. Pianist Beatrice Berrut will perform a glittering version on the legendary Rhapsody in Blue, a whirlwind of jazz and lyricism. As mistress of ceremonies, the singer and TV presenter, Licia Chery, brings the evening together: she will slip into the skin of Leonard Bernstein to treat us to this musical journey to the Americas with humour, passion and style. To open the proceedings, the irresistible lustre of Bernstein’s Candide will set the mood: “This is the best of all possible worlds”. Then off to the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, where mambo, cha-cha and cool jazz celebrate the cross-pollination of cultures. The Danzón by Mexican Arturo Márquez pays tribute to the popular rhythms of the region of his birth. A concert that cannot be contained on the stage: a blend of swing, passion and orchestral power for an evening immersed in the musical soul of the Americas.
