For the first time, Emmanuel Pahud and Nelson Goerner share a stage: a unique encounter between two musical giants. Pahud, a star flautist and Noda BCVS’ Signature Artist, joins forces with Goerner, a renowned pianist well acquainted with the house piano, for it was he himself who selected this concert grand piano from Steinway for Noda BCVS. A rare alliance, tailor-made for an exceptional musical collaboration. This recital is a free-form virtuoso journey through ages and styles: a wandering flute, curious, capable of expressing everything. Bach and his enigmatic Sonata in A major, the first movement of which was partially lost, begins the journey. Then comes Prokofiev’s Sonata, luminous in spite of the darkness of war, before Schumann’s delicate Fantasiestücke, beautifully rearranged by Pahud himself. And lastly, Strauss, with a flamboyant sonata, initially devised for violin, but in which the flute reveals another voice, lyrical and sparkling. A moment in which time stands still, between virtuosity, collaboration and freedom of interpretation.
