Nemanja Radulović and the Ensemble Double Sens explore the circulation of works through arrangements and transcriptions. Nemanja Radulović, violinist and teacher at the HEMU – Valais-Wallis in 2024-25, revisits masterpieces of the repertoire. The evening begins with Beethoven and his Kreutzer Sonata, judged by some to be his most “outrageously unintelligible” creation which saw him accused of “aesthetic terrorism”. Here, it takes on a new dimension and shimmers in Nemanja Radulović’s arrangement. Another musical monument, the Ciaccona from Bach’s Partita in D minor illustrates the richness of the violin repertoire. Lastly, the Violin Concerto in D minor gets a makeover, reconstituted from its version for harpsichord by musicologists. Transcriptions, adaptations, re-orchestrations: an incandescent programme in which masterpieces are transformed by Radulović’s electrifying bowing technique.
