Keys to Listening

Do you find classical music intimidating? You have questions about the works scheduled? You are very welcome, whatever your situation. One hour before each concert, come and attend our pre-concert lecture to share our keys to listening – in order to get even more out of the concert experience!

Concert programmes

At each concert, Noda bcvs will be delighted to offer you a concert programme absolutely free, to give you a helping hand, so to speak. The opportunity to discover the careers of our guest artists and find out more about the works performed, as you sit undisturbed in your seat!

Artist’s confidences

How does an international soloist work? What is his relationship with his instrument? With his audience? With the composers he loves? Does he dream in music? Does he sleep badly before a concert? Artist’s confidences is a special moment, friendly, private, you might say, with the great musicians of our time. The ideal opportunity to ask them your questions and find out more about what happens behind-the-scenes in those unconventional lives.

The Laboratories

Scientific and musical interactions
Music is a real hybrid. Is it an art, is it a science? Does it speak to what we feel or what we think? The laboratories provide an open space in which music and science meet to find out more about how our emotions are made. On the stage, musicians and scientists talk, converse, discuss, to better discern those feelings that all of us have felt and which make each and every one of us unquestionably human. Just one hour together when what you have to say is also heard!

The Chronicles

In the course of the season: the history behind the music
Concerts follow one after the other. But each one is different, unique. In the course of the season at Noda bcvs, you will be able to discover works covering five centuries of music. A note to the curious minded, eager for knowledge: the Chronicles offer a chance to build on what you already know, the better to understand the issues behind the great ages of our musical history.
Which instruments were given top billing in 1615? Which musical forms were the best liked in 1850? Which important composers were at work in the 18th century? What was the vision of music put forward by the innovators of 1910? Four periods of musical history will be explored: Baroque, Classical, Romantic and the 20th century. Two one-and-half-hour sessions will be devoted to each of them, allowing you explore each musical phenomenon as thoroughly as possible. The first one, in the form of a formal lecture, will introduce the key concepts. The second, more interactive, will provide a full selection of musical examples with comments, in the presence of live musicians. A living, sensitive approach to the history of music.
